The first thing I need to do.
What do I really, really want? Do I have it written down? If I had a million dollars today what would I do with it?

Creating a prosperity consciousness: Notes
Here are some notes that might come in handy when one is exploring the role of the individual consciousness. It is part of the metaphysical universe and I have not completely tested out its efficacy as promised in this blog. The process is ongoing. (1) Live with a positive, successful attitude or consciousness of success, properity, health and wealth in spite of the surrounding circumstances. (2) Persist in this mode of living. This may be hard to do initially because glitches of worry, anxiety and fear will strike from time to time. As long as these are not a habitual dominant form of mental activity, it apparently is not hurtful to the main process. (3)Apparently the dominant thought manifests itself physically. (4)Belief in oneself and in the basic process of creative consciousness is very important. Believe in success to get success. (5)Constantly visualize success, prosperity, money, health and wealth. Similar to the note above. This is simply a re-iteration of the basic principle. (6) Never let the vision die, no matter what the circumstances. (7)Practice, practice, practice. (8)We get what we habitually dwell upon. So dwell on prosperity, success, health, and wealth. I am told that it takes a month to get into the habit. So perhaps at least a month must go by in a conscious attempt to think success. (9)Expect good! (10) Apparently, failure and problems occur in life when one tries to build on a physical plane but neutralizes one's efforts by constantly tearing down on the mental plane. To succeed one must have consistent thinking pointing in the same direction on both planes of effort. (11) Think success, act success, be success! (12) Have a clearly defined purpose or goal (13) Solution of problems can be divided into the following steps: (a) Be convinced a solution actually exists. The solution space is so large that this is a certainty. ( Scientists will no doubt refer to the random walk model or the gaussian probability distribution ). (b)Try many different approaches. (c) Keep trying. Persist. This part of the process can be very frustrating and debilitating at times but through that process of frustration a solution always appears.(d)Each time a solution is not reached, i.e. a failure occurs, a modification of thinking or techniques must be done.(e) Simulate. That is try out solutions in a low risk manner. Computer scientists and engineers run computer simulations with mathematical models which are simplfied techniques compared to what the mind can do. (f) Think of the solution continuously, constantly and deeply. (g)Look up references and prior work. People who have tread this path before tend to leave hints and documentation of prior work. (h) Read books, reference articles, web postings, and ideas on the subject at hand. (i) Keep going on this process until success is achieved. Since the solution ( or more accurately, solutions ) are certain, success is merely a matter of time.(j) For prosperity, change a pinched poverty cosnsiousness to a more prosperity consciousness where money is spent without fear. (k) Never let fear generate mental pictures of what I do not want to happen. (l) Worry is the most vicious of the emotions that always causes problems. The reason is that when I worry my mind is so focused on the problem that I do not see the solutions that are there. The darkness of worry hides the solutions. This is not an experiment. This has already been proven to myself many, many times. Almost 90% of the time I worry about things that never actually happen in reality.

Beginnings
Just recently someone gave me a copy of an old book by Orison Swett Marden. Apparently he is one of the apostles of getting prosperity to come to you. From reading this book I found that there are a number of other authors who also preach the same things. I found, Robert Collier, another author of the 19th century. He also teaches prosperity in a similar vein. Very quickly like falling dominoes I found a multitude of others. Some were actual originals while others were merely plagiarizing some of the older works. I also found Napoleon Hill, apparently an original and of course Dr Peale of the " Power of positive thinking" fame. The question is, does any of this stuff they write about actually work? As an engineer and a scientist, embedded in a family of scientists, I find it particularly difficult to accept these claims. I thought I would find out if one can verify these metaphysical powers of mankind through experiment. This web log will try to document my experiments and findings.
